GNED 1202 - Ideas that Matter -- Course Description

“Ideas that Matter” is a course that explores how specific ideas shape attitudes, belief systems, and values through the perspectives of various disciplines. The course will focus on the nature, origins and relevance of one or more complex concepts, such as beauty, mind, identity, modernity, and the good life.

Designed by faculty from many disciplines in the Faculty of Arts, this course is interdisciplinary in nature and prepares students for courses in a variety of disciplines and levels.  The design of this course allows it to be taught by faculty from disciplines and Faculties across the College.

Given the interdisciplinary nature of the course, collaboration and dialogue between disciplines is essential. While it is possible that some sections may be taught by a single individual with demonstrated expertise across a number of disciplines, many, if not most, of the sections will likely be offered as team-taught.
